Putting up a cat wall is near the top of the list of behaviorists when dealing with behavioral issues in the home. Providing your cat with suitable options for scratching and stretching is a nice source of enrichment and gives your cat an outlet for exercise. Build them a special area that’s specifically for them and then promote them to use it with positive reinforcements like playtime and snacks. Our favorite healthy option is freeze dried chicken, which can be broken off into small pieces and stretch snack time out a bit.

Is the Cat Scratcher for Large Cats?

Yes, Since the poles are modular, you can create an angled scratcher in whatever length will best suit cats of all sizes. A big cat scratching post needs to hold weight, so we’ve designed the brackets from stainless steel and weight tested the pole to hold 65lbs per pole. They’re also an excellent option for cats that are out of shape or that have trouble climbing directly up a vertical scratching pole.

The scratching poles are made to be modular, which allows you to mount them in many different ways. You can connect the brackets to the mounting planks in multiple positions which allows you to install them at two different distances from the wall. This functionality comes in handy to create extra routes by either installing two poles side by side, or by running two poles in different directions to create some modern cat scratching posts.

Not sure of your stud spacing?

Our Horizontal and Angled Poles can both be installed into a single stud, by installing the other stud into drywall with the included drywall anchors.

But if you know the distance your studs are spaced, we also have different specific size poles which fit both 16” and 24” stud spacing. Select your preference to see how the pole will fit on the wall. A benefit to installing both planks into wall studs is that if you decide to build on to the scratcher with the modular furniture, you are lined up for furniture that does need to be ina stud like our cat hammocks.

An Innovative Cat Wall Scratcher

Over the last we’ve been consistently designing and making alterations to the new bracket. Since our scratching pole sections are all the same size, it was important to come up with the ideal angle of the bracket, along with features like the slotted area and shape which allows you to attach the pole two the mounting plank in 8 different ways, which opens up a lot of possibilities with what you can make.

Installing the Angled Scratching Pole

The scratching pole comes with paper instructions which detail step-by-step assembly and mounting instructions. We have options for both 16” and 24” spaced studs, or you’re not sure of your stud spacing, you can also install by using only one stud and installing the other into drywall using the included anchors.
