The Catacombs Cat Condo: Cat Scratcher Lounge

This was our Christmas present to our cats this year and they love it. We have a bridge and hammock on the same wall and they have so many cozy spots to sleep and watch over us. The scratching poles are their favorite. Wonderful design.

I initially reached out to customer service because I have non-standard stud spacing and the woman who answered my questions was wonderful. She indicated that if I wanted, the company could work with me to design a customized setup. In the end, my dad felt we could install a standard setup into the wall with ultra heavy duty wall anchors. My cats are pretty petite and their combined weight plus the weight of the heaviest components of the cat condo is still well below the support limit of the wall anchors we chose, so we have had no issues. Setup for the catacombs took about an hour and fifteen minutes with two people working together. The materials used are really nice and blend perfectly with my apartment. My cats love this thing. They sleep on it, romp on it, wrestle on it, and just love it. It’s a cornerstone of their environmental enrichment, along with a window overlooking a busy city street and each other. When I move to a larger apartment with a bigger wall, I will likely add more components to this cat condo. Totally recommend to anyone looking to give their cats a great outlet to burn off energy and provide a fun playground without compromising floor space.

We got the Catacombs for 24" stud spacing and couldn't be more pleased. Beautifully designed, it's sturdy enough for our two boys (each ~14 lbs.) to wrestle on. (The pic here shows a quieter moment of repose.) Also, customer service is stellar! I both e-mailed and called with questions about installation and got quick, helpful answers. It is clear this company cares about their customers and has put thought into every detail of their products. We plan to get more hammocks and shelves to build out our configuration further.

I recently introduced a kitten to my household. My resident cat was displeased. The day I set my condo up, my resident cat was using it. He jumped on the pieces as I put them up & tested each hammock out by taking cat naps. The new vertical space changed the cat dynamic literally overnight. Now they’re buds.

Our wall shipped pretty quick and wasn’t too difficult to put together. The catacombs was the perfect for our two hairless cats who love to climb. We even put a heating pad on the bottom hammock for them. In a 600sqft apartment this was honestly just so nice to not have a big cat tower taking up limited floor space. I also love that it’s modular so it’ll be super easy to move and easy to replace parts as they destroy them.
