Updated Review: Catastrophic Creations reached out to diagnose the problem. I learned that the fabrics are delivered unstretched, and they offered to ship a replacement stretched canvas for me. I manually stretched the fabric out over the period of several days and got it to work without the replacement! My cat is very happy with the tree and it is very high quality, and so I've updated my review to reflect this. Just be aware that the fabric may be quite unstretched and maybe don't tighten the screws all the way until you've verified that the fabric will fit while assembling the tree.
Original Review: After doing a ton of research on higher quality cat trees that would last longer than a year or two and be accessible for a senior cat who is not a fan of jumping on wobbly surfaces, I was so excited to find and buy this one for my cat. However, the product I received was defective. It was frustrating to put it all together only to find out that one of the fabric hammocks included was an inch too short. It renders the whole bottom half of the tree unusable, since none of the velcro lines up, no matter how hard you pull on the fabric. I wouldn't have spent over $350 on such a tree if I knew that this would be the product I'd receive.
The pictures attached are of Fabric A on the bottom -- this picture was taken with one person pulling as hard as they can on the fabric, and the other person holding the tree still. As you can see, it is nowhere close to lining up. I double checked the video instructions multiple times to make sure I assembled it all correctly, and it just doesn't work. I'd love a fabric replacement for this, since I still think my cat would love it, but it's definitely disappointing to have to disassemble and reassemble the whole tree just because of this.

Excellent. The Overlooked arrived ahead of time and was very easy to assemble (took a bit longer because kitty kept trying to “help”). Its rightful owner (my cat) started investing it right away and is discovering tires and ways to enjoy it every day! We just need to find the best place for it now.

Putting this tree together I was really impressed with the quality of the materials. The thing is solid, my 17lb boy can dig his nails into the sisal mat on the side to help hoist his body up to the top without a worry of this tree tipping over. So far I have found him lounging in the top and bottom and it makes a very fun play area as well.

It’s taken a few weeks, but my guy is finally including The Overlook among his favorite sleeping spots. He’s happily sleeping on the top hammock in the morning sun right now. The scale is a little small for his large Maine Coon frame, but he’s not complaining.

Not only does this tree look great, but it’s also incredibly solidly built (according to my engineer boyfriend). Since getting it, my boys Hank and Louis love playing with it and it definitely encourages additional play. Louis also loves to loaf on the top hammock, while Hank loves to attack him from below. This will be the last cat tree I ever need to purchase. Totally worth the price.

The tree is fantastic, excellent design and quality. Our cat is a double-wide Tabico diva with all the attitude and she loves it! This cat actually knows quality and has strong aesthetic opinions about her space, and she likes to show of the tree as her new digs to guests! Best of all, it's the last cat tree I'll ever have to buy, no more $100 trees from Amazon every year!

Ladder, escape hatch
The Overlook comes with a shelf that extends out from the core structure. This shelf can be used by cats either to jump up to the top level or to take the escape hatch hole down the canvas ladder to the lower level.
Sisal Mat
Each cat tree comes with your choice of charcoal gray or natural-colored sisal mats. The mats have a unique shape to match the design of the cat tree and the edges are sewn to give them a finished look. They are attached to the trees with a very strong-hold velcro, so they can be removed and replaced over time.
Plush Pad
The Overlook comes with a plush faux fur pad, which can be added to any level of the cat tree, but has been designed to be attached to the middle section. It can be removed from the structure with velcro and the foam pad can be taken out of the faux fur cover for washing.
Modern Cat Tree Features
Fabric Gaps
The gaps on either side of the hammocks have two functions. They expand the area for your cat to stretch out and they also promote exercise and play. They’re spaced so that cats can either play through the gap with each other or with you and their favorite cat toy.
Triangle Cutouts
The side walls have triangle windows cut out that can be used to expand your cat’s view when lounging in two of the resting spots and that also work really well for playtime. They give your cat a chance to practice their hunting skills with their favorite cat wand by hiding behind the panels and then popping out for a surprise attack through the window.
Sustainable Bamboo
The cat trees are made from sustainable bamboo. Bamboo grows incredibly fast and because of that, requires no pesticides. After it’s harvested, its roots remain in the ground and do not need to be replanted like many other crops. Bamboo is a grass rather than a hardwood, which makes it more water-resistant and therefore is great for cleaning.

Easy Assembly.
After eight years of focusing on how to make cat furniture assembly easier, we wanted to release a product that can be easily assembled by anyone in minutes. These cat trees come with every tool you will need to assemble them. It takes about seven minutes to assemble the Grotto and about 12 minutes to assemble the Overlook. Although they come with step-by-step instructions, we will also have video instructions available prior to shipping the cat trees out.
