A fun part of building Catastrophic Creations has been witnessing the positive impact the furniture has had, so we especially like working with cat cafes and shelters to see it firsthand. We offer discounts and also donate returned furniture, or furniture that has been used for pictures, to prevent risks of illnesses or issues related to somebody receiving furniture that smells like another cat.
If you have either a cat cafe or shelter near Grand Rapids, Michigan and you're interested in having us come out to do the installation, please reach out. We've traveled as far as Indiana for donation installs, and it depends on how settled things are in the shop for us to make the trip, but it never hurts to ask.

Our Discount & Donation Programs
Whether you're running a nonprofit shelter trying to stretch every dollar, a cat cafe looking to furnish your space without breaking the bank, or you just heard we sometimes give furniture away and want to know more, you're in the right place. While we build furniture for cats, we build relationships with the humans looking out for them.
Discounted FurnitureFurnishing a cat cafe or outfitting a shelter room from scratch? We'll build it custom and take 15% off the total for furniture being installed in a shelter or cat cafe. Just tell share a few pictures of the space in the for below and let us know what you're picturing, and we'll handle the rest. |
Gently Used DonationsEvery so often we either come across a piece comes off our floor with a ding or a scratch that keeps it from selling as new, but it's every bit as safe and sturdy as the day we built it. If your organization can use one, just cover shipping and we'll send it your way. |
Shelters & Cat Cafe Discounts
Our donations are limited to what parts we have available in the shop, and typically involve a bit of a wait depending on our list. Another option is to order new furniture at a discounted rate of 15% off. A benefit to that is that you can order something to fit perfectly in the space while also having it include all the furniture types you've envisioned for the space.
A few things that make our furniture a solid fit for shelters and cafes specifically: we never use carpet on any of our pieces, so everything's easy to keep clean. Our fabric is washable too, but if you're furnishing a room that sees a lot of cats coming and going, we've found shelving like ours tends to work best. It wipes clean in seconds, which matters a lot when you're managing more than a couple residents at once. Looking for more cleaning tips? See our cleaning blog here.
Gently Used Cat Furniture Donations for Shelters & Humane Societies
Every so often, a piece comes off our floor with a cosmetic hiccup that keeps it from being sold as new. That doesn't mean it's not perfectly good cat furniture… it’s just not quite "showroom" anymore. So instead of tossing it, we send it to shelters.
We keep a running list of shelters waiting on these pieces, and we work through it in order, sending things out once we've got enough to fill a box. So if it's been quiet since you reached out, it's not because we forgot about you. It just means you're in line with a bunch of other good people doing similar good work.
Shelters & Cat Cafes We've Furnished
We've had the privilege of helping outfit spaces for some genuinely great organizations. From shelters working to lower euthanasia rates to cat cafes turning "just visiting" into "forever home."
Catz Den - Wayland MI,
Located just south of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Catz Den is a cozy cat cafe featuring cats from The Country Cat Lady. The space also hosts coffee and kitty hours along with a VIP program for teens. We helped furnish a full wall with Bridges, Scratching Poles, Hammocks, and Shelves, giving the cats plenty of ways to climb, scratch, lounge and supervise the coffee-drinking humans below.

Dont Stress Meowt Cat Cafe
Don’t Stress Meowt was a really fun project to work on. Before we even started working with them on the furniture layout, they shared a really impressive vision for the space, which included a very detailed blueprint. Adam, one of the owners, is actually a mechanical engineer, which made a lot of sense after seeing how thoroughly everything had been planned out.
They were great to work with and nice enough to share these photos with us. If you're ever in the area, please stop in and check them out.

Humane Society of Huron Valley — Ann Arbor, Michigan
This was a fun collaboration we did a few years ago. It was an installation in one of their cat rooms. One thing that made this a lot more fun was that the walls in the room are made of concrete block, allowing us to put the furniture wherever we wanted, rather than needing to track down wall studs. They were great to work with and since this was pretty local, my mom was nice enough to stop in and take photos for us.
The finished space gave the cats more opportunities to stay busy in the room with climbing, scratching and perching while waiting to be adopted. Everyone was very friendly and great to work with. Thanks!

Black Pine Animal Sanctuary - Albion, IN

Black Pine Animal Sanctuary is an animal rescue that saves animals from circuses, zoos, and private owners who got in over their heads. All of their animals live at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
We were thrilled to hear that our giant cat bridge idea was something Black Pine was into as well. We worked with Lori and Amy, who were incredibly kind and welcoming. They brought us to one of the tiger enclosures, which housed Top Cat and Millie. With both tigers being young and having a high energy level, we thought they would be a perfect fit for our bridge.

Is there a minimum order size to qualify for the discount bulk program?
Bulk discounts can depend on the size and needs of the project rather than one-size-fits-all minimum. If you’re furnishing a shelter, cat cafe, rescue space, or another larger cat-friendly environment, reach out with an idea of what you need and we can help determine which discount options may apply.
