MOUNTING OUR BRIDGES

All of our bridges come with the brackets detached. Two brackets should be attached to each bridge platform, so that at least one bracket reaches a stud. Our shelves are incredibly sturdy when mounted into studs. Another option is separately purchasing Toggle Bolts and mounting into drywall. Please send us a message if you’d like suggestions on which Toggle Bolts to use with drywall or if you need mounting help.

If you cannot find a stud where you want your shelf to be mounted, you can always buy heavy duty drywall anchors at your local hardware store.

ROPED CAT BRIDGE

4 – Mounting brackets
4 – Drywall anchors
8 – Short screws (for mounting the brackets onto the platforms)
8 – Long screws (for mounting the brackets into the wall)

Please read all of the instructions before you start mounting the bridge.

Because studs around doorways are spaced differently in different homes, our bridges don’t come with brackets attached. Where the brackets are placed depends on where the studs are in your walls and how far from an opening you’re mounting the bridge.

Both platforms of the bridge will get two brackets: one to be mounted into a stud and one to be mounted with drywall anchors. If you cannot find at least one stud per platform where you’re mounting the bridge, you can purchase Toggle Bolts from a hardware store.

Please read this page to learn how to attach the brackets to the platforms.

When mounting, it really helps to have another person to help you hold the bridge up, while you measure and mount the platforms.

1. Hold up the bridge where you would like it mounted. Starting with one platform, and using a stud finder, find the nearest stud, which is where you’re going to mount the first bracket. Using a pencil, mark the center of the stud and where on the platform you’re going to mount the bracket.

2. Use the link above for the bracket mounting instructions.   Mount the first bracket, which will go into a stud. Then mount the next bracket, which will be installed with drywall anchors, as far away as you can on the platform from the first bracket (without going too close to the edge).

3. Hold the first platform up to the wall where it is going to be mounted, pull the other platform to where you want it, and make a mark on either side of the 18” platform, then take it down to look for studs within that area. Mark the center of the stud you will be using. Figure out where the first bracket needs to be on the platform to go into the stud, and then install both brackets on the platform.

4. Finally, using the instructions at the top of this page on how to mount a bracket into a stud and how to mount a bracket using drywall anchors, mount the platforms, one at a time.

DELUXE BOARDWALK

Mounting Instructions DELUXE BOARDWALK

The Deluxe Boardwalk is made to be mounted among five studs, with the standard 16″ between studs. You’ll have a little freedom to arrange the Boardwalk the way you want to, as long as the brackets are being screwed into studs.

1. Using a stud finder and a pencil, find and mark the centers of the five studs you will be using.

2. Figure out where you want the boardwalk to start and, using the instructions at the top of this page for mounting brackets into studs, mount the first plank to the first stud you marked.

3. Mount the remainder of the planks in order, arranging the boardwalk how you’d like as you go. The picture above shows how we’ve mounted ours at home.
