MOUNTING OUR SHELVES

All of our shelves are made to be mounted into studs, with these instructions assuming the standard 16″ between studs. If your studs are spaced differently and you spoke with us about custom bracket spacing for your order, adjust the procedures accordingly.

If you cannot find a stud where you want your shelf to be mounted, you can always buy heavy duty drywall anchors or toggle bolts at your local hardware store.

10” SHELVES

2 – screws

This shelf is held up by one bracket, mounted into a stud. If you cannot find a stud where you want to place the shelf, you can always buy heavy duty drywall anchors, which can be found pretty cheaply at hardware stores.

Using a stud finder and a pencil, find and mark the center of the stud you will be using. Mount the shelf into the stud.

Mounting Instructions 12

Our 12″ shelf is meant to be mounted into one stud, with the other bracket using drywall anchors.

First, using a stud finder and a pencil, find and mark the center of the stud you will be using.

Next, mount one of the brackets to the center of the stud, but only using one screw. Do not tighten this screw all the way.

Using a level, position the shelf where it will be mounted and, with a pencil, make a mark through each of the holes in the second bracket.

Move the shelf out of the way and, using the instructions at the top of this page, install the drywall anchors where you made the two marks.

Finally, level the shelf, install the three remaining screws, and fully tighten the first screw.

18” SHELVES

4 – screws
2 – drywall anchors

The brackets on these shelves are measured for studs 16” apart. Both brackets are meant to be installed into a stud. We will include a set of drywall anchors in case you can only find one stud.

With a stud finder and a pencil, find and mark the centers of each of the two studs you are using to mount the shelf. Then mount the shelf to the studs.

Mounting Instructions Plush Cat Bed

Our plush cat bed is meant to be mounted into one stud, with the other bracket using drywall anchors.

First, using a stud finder and a pencil, find and mark the center of the stud you will be using.

Next, mount one of the brackets to the center of the stud, but only using one screw. Do not tighten this screw all the way.

Using a level, position the bed where it will be mounted and, with a pencil, make a mark through each of the holes in the second bracket.

Move the bed out of the way and, using the instructions at the top of this page, install the drywall anchors where you made the two marks.

Finally, level the bed, install the three remaining screws, and fully tighten the first screw.

CORNER SHELF

6– lg screws
2- sm screws
4 – drywall anchors
1 – extra bracket

We have attached 3 brackets to the shelf where they hit the studs in our house. Studs tend to vary from house to house, especially near doorways. We have included an extra bracket that may be attached in addition to the other three if your stud placement is different. This shelf needs to have at least one bracket mounted into a stud.

1. Hold the shelf up where you want it to be mounted. You can have a level sitting on the shelf (if you would like it perfectly straight.

2. Mark the wall through the holes of each attached bracket, so you can see where your pilot holes will need to be drilled.

3. Take the shelf down and then drill into each hole to see if there are studs. (A stud finder can also be used to check this)

4. If there is not a stud for any of the brackets, then follow steps 5-7. If you do have a stud then skip to step 8.

5. Find a stud, and then measure from the corner of your wall to the stud.

7. The two small screws are for if you need to mount the other bracket to the shelf. The long screws may go through the bottom of the shelf.

8. For each bracket that will be mounted into drywall, you should drill wider pilot holes so that the included drywall anchors can be tightly inserted.

9. After the drywall anchors are inserted, you may hold the shelf back up and mount the longer screws into the brackets.

BURLAP CAT BED WITH VERTICAL POLE

8 – mounting screws
4 – champagne-colored small screws
4 – drywall anchors

Mounting Instructions BURLAP CAT BED WITH VERTICAL POLE

The Burlap bed and pole are made to be mounted between two 16” studs. This piece holds up fine using one stud as well. Please refer to the instructions at the top of the page on how to mount brackets into studs and how to mount brackets using drywall anchors. This piece is easier to mount with another person to help you.

Assembling the Vertical Pole
The Vertical Sisal Pole comes in two separated pieces (Figure 1).

Before you mount the pole, you will need to join the two pieces.

1. Take note of which pole has sisal lining the whole piece and which pole is not all the way covered. To join the two poles, you will drill between the 2nd and 3rd row of sisal on the pole that is completely covered.

2. First, attach the two separate poles so that the sisal ends match up (Figure 1)

3. Next, place the Sisal Pole down horizontally on a flat surface (we use the kitchen floor) with the brackets facing downwards. Make sure that all four brackets are flat against the ground (Figure 2).

4. Using your drill and the 7/64″ bit, make a pilot hole somewhere between the two rows of sisal (Figure 3). Using the Phillips head screwdriver bit, screw one of the small champagne screws into the pilot hole. The screw should sink down between the sisal, slightly hiding.

5. Repeat step 4 for the remaining three champagne screws, with the second screw opposite (halfway around the pole) from where you put the first screw in, and the third and fourth screws a quarter turn to either side of the second screw. (In other words, you will end up with screws at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock.) Insert each screw immediately after making its pilot hole, so that the holes stay lined up.

Mounting the Burlap Bed and Sisal Pole
1. Find the two studs you are using and, using a stud finder and a pencil, mark the center of each stud.

2. Hold the entire piece against the wall, so that the right hand bracket on the bed lines up with the center of the right hand stud you are using. Make sure the bed is level, either using a level or having your helper stand back and eyeball it. Mark through the holes in the brackets with a pencil.

3. Install drywall anchors where you made the marks for the right hand bracket of the lower platform. The left hand bracket of the lower platform will line up with the middle of the stud. If you are only using one stud to mount the piece (if you have a distance other than 16″ between studs), install drywall anchors where the left hand bracket of the bed will go too.

4. Finally, mount the right hand bracket of the bed into the middle of the stud, then the left hand bracket on the bed, and lastly the brackets on the lower platform.

Please let us know if you have any questions with mounting and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

Mario Cannonball Shelf and Vinyl Set

4 mounting screws
3 screws for holding cover in place

1. Using a stud finder and a pencil, find and mark a stud. Mount piece (as shown to the right) with all four screws going into the stud.

2. Next, place cannonball face cover over the piece and push until there’s no white pipe showing. Then drill a few pilot holes along the green line shown in the photo below. Be sure to drill between the black rope. Then screw the two pieces together where you made the pilot holes.

Mario Bullet Shelf and Vinyl Set

2 mounting bolts
1 mounting block (2 pieces)

1. Using a stud finder and a pencil, find the stud you’re going to mount the piece into and mark its center. Use the large half of the mounting block as a template to mark your holes in the wall. Using a 1/4″ drill bit, drill pilot holes where you marked the wall.

2. Place smaller half of the mounting block inside the bullet and place bolts through the holes, from the inside out.

3. Notice that the two pieces of the mounting block are curved to match the walls on the bullet.

Now hold the larger half of the mounting block up the bullet, put bolt through the mounting block and use a 1/2″ hex wrench or socket from the inside of the bullet to tighten the piece to the wall.

4. Take film cover off the back bullet cover mounting tape and hold firmly over the back for 60 seconds. We just pulled the film off 3 of the pieces so that we could re-attach it later if we decided to move it on the wall.
